Grief & Bereavement Literacy ECHO Series

Exploring Canada’s Grief Strategy and the New National Grief Portal

As part of the BC Center for Palliative Care Grief & Bereavement Literacy ECHO Series, this one-hour virtual session will explore the Canadian Grief Alliance’s Next Steps Action Plan for Grief and introduce AboutGrief.ca, Canada’s new National Grief Portal, launched in July 2025.

AboutGrief.ca is designed to support people living with grief and those who care for or support others who are grieving. The portal includes practical articles, a searchable resource map, an interactive Grief Assistant, and a space to share messages, offering accessible tools and guidance for individuals, families, and communities across Canada.

The session will provide an overview of these national initiatives, highlight how they can support grief and bereavement work at the community level, and offer space for learning and reflection.

Presenter
Marney Thompson, M.A.
Director of Bereavement Services, Victoria Hospice Society

This session is open to anyone interested in strengthening their understanding of grief and bereavement, whether for personal learning or professional practice.

The BC Hospice Palliative Care Association (BCHPCA) recognizes the traditional land of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples who have walked before us and minded the lands we now call home for time immemorial. Hospice Societies have been able to support, aid and care for many people on these same lands.

The BCHPCA Offices are located on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded lands of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and TsleilWaututh Nations.
