The Palliative Performance Scale (PPS): A Vital Tool in Palliative Care

  • Tuesday, March 04, 2025
  • 1:00 PM

The Palliative Performance Scale (PPS) has become fundamental to our clinical assessments—transforming assessment, communication, care planning, and resource allocation. However, its effectiveness depends on consistent and accurate application across the care team.

To help us enhance our skills with this critical tool, we have invited Theresa (Terry) Downing to present at our March webinar. Terry will address correct use of the PPS tool and ways to inform and communicate care, with time for questions and discussion.

Terry, recently honored with the 2024 Canadian Palliative Care Nurses Association Leadership Award, brings decades of nursing experience from Victoria Hospice, where she pioneered the Palliative Response Team and transformed home-based palliative crisis care. Her decades of commitment to palliative care and her work in direct person-centered care have made her an inspiring educator!

Whether you're a nurse new to palliative care or an experienced healthcare professional looking to refine your assessment skills, this webinar promises to enhance your clinical practice and team communication.

The BC Hospice Palliative Care Association (BCHPCA) recognizes the traditional land of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples who have walked before us and minded the lands we now call home for time immemorial. Hospice Societies have been able to support, aid and care for many people on these same lands.

The BCHPCA Offices are located on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded lands of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and TsleilWaututh Nations.
